Janet Dorothy Leeming, known as Jan Leeming, is an English television presenter, newsreader, actress, and author. She began her career in theatre and broadcasting in Australia and New Zealand, becoming Sydney’s first female TV newsreader in 1963. Returning to the UK, she rose to prominence as a BBC newsreader from 1980–1987 and hosted the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest. Twice voted Newsreader of the Year, she also won the Pye Award for Television Personality of the Year. Leeming’s varied career includes acting, radio, documentaries such as her BBC film on WWII pilot René Mouchotte, reality TV appearances like I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and The Real Marigold Hotel, and extensive charity work for animal welfare and war memorial causes.
