Andrea Louise Mitchell is an American television journalist, anchor, and commentator for NBC News, serving as Chief Foreign Affairs and Chief Washington Correspondent. With NBC since 1978, she has covered every U.S. presidential campaign since 1980, major global conflicts, and diplomatic events. She hosted Andrea Mitchell Reports on MSNBC from 2008 to 2025 before stepping back from daily anchoring to focus on reporting. Her work has earned numerous honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Emmy and the 2025 Peabody Career Achievement Award. She authored the memoir Talking Back… to Presidents, Dictators, and Assorted Scoundrels and is known for her trailblazing role for women in journalism.
